Vintage Horse Bit Estados Unidos Mexicanos W Silver Decoration

Description

This vintage horse bit is decorated on each side with silver toned applications that have an engraved arrow on each one. We can not say they are silver pieces although they look like it. Also, on one side of the bit is a round coin, perhaps a pesos that reads, “Estados Unidos Mexicanos” aka United States Mexicans. In the center of the “coin” there is an eagle with a serpent in it’s mouth. While on the opposite side there is a round silver toned “button” with rays or flower pedals. The mouth section has a copper coil that moves back and forth. I’ve taken photos to show it in different positions. On the long sides, the area between two silver arrows looks like it’s been painted with black paint that has touched the edges of the arrows. The bit is large and measures 6” across and 7 1/4” from front to back. Please see the photos for more description.
