    A vintage ema with a rat on rice bales (koku). This ema is for praying for prosperity.
    Ema are votives printed or painted on a plank of cedarwood and purchased in Japanese temples and shrines. A message could be written on the back, then hung on a special votive rack in the temple. You summon the gods, and send them your wish. Many ema are collectible, and many Japanese will travel around the
