    Description

Chinese Porcelain Plate, gifted by Peking Univ. to Marshall Sahlins.
Marshall Sahlins was a professor at the University of Chicago (google his name and find out), recently passed away. It is unknown when and on which occasion he got this gift. This item from his legacy was discarded and sold. I bought it to preserve for myself, but decided to see if anyone is interested in obtaining it.
On the backside, Sahlins's name, university, and the gifting institution (Peking University Sociology Institute) are written. The plate demonstrates traditional Chinese porcelain art. Colors are white, black, grey, and minor green, brown, and red.
A rare item, important both artistically and historically. Sahlins is known by his critique of certain Chinese academic institutions (google if you want to know more).
Preserved in its original embroidered cloth-covered box, with artful figures.
Will be shipped with extra layer of protection to avoid any damage.
