c1930s Nice Ahrendt & Kautzman Sterling Silver Hand Hammered Rectangular Box

Description

Presented is a handsome sterling silver rectangular cigar or cigarette box. This
piece was made by Ahrendt & Kautzman and dates to around the 1920s-1940s.
The exterior of the box has an attractive hand hammered finish, with a simple
lip around the lid to open the box. The interior of the box has a wood lining,
with a gilt wash to the interior of the lid. Great for its original purpose or
to store whatever trinkets, mementos, jewelry, etc you like.
This piece is in great overall condition. There are a couple of minor dings
here and there, but nothing of any significance in our opinion. There are no
splits, no breaks, no dents, no cracks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and
no repairs.
The underside of the piece is stamped 'sterling' and with the maker's mark
for Ahrendt & Kautzman, as well as the number 450 and the retail mark for
Shreve, Crump & Low Co.
The box measures about 7 1/2 by 3 1/2 by 2 1/4 inches, LxWxH.
This piece weighs 463 grams or 16.3 regular ounces. Considering the light
weight of the wood lining the interior, the vast majority of this weight is
sterling silver.
