Description

A wonderful antique Japanese late Meiji/Taisho sterling silver novelty fan shape pill box with sliding lid, hallmarked for Hattori Kintaro (1860-1934). This beautiful and fine quality Japanese sterling silver pill box is in the shape of a long fan with a lid that slides sideways to reveal the compartment. The box is decorated with applied silver straps and the hinge operated with two silver gilt pins. The reverse is stamped with Japanese silver marks and the bird/swallow mark of the celebrated silversmith Hattori Kintaro. The box measures approximately 4 1/2 inches long, about 1 1/4 inches at its widest point and is about 1/4 inch high. The box is in very good condition with general light overall wear, there are no dings, dents or repairs. Thanks for looking and please check out my other items!

This beautiful and fine quality Japanese sterling silver pill box is in the shape of a long fan with a lid that slides sideways to reveal the compartment. The box is decorated with applied silver straps and the hinge operated with two silver gilt pins. The reverse is stamped with Japanese silver marks and the bird/swallow mark of the celebrated silversmith Hattori Kintaro.
The box measures approximately 4 1/2 inches long, about 1 1/4 inches at its widest point and is about 1/4 inch high.
