Description
1983 LOWREY Micro Genie V-120 String Synthesizer Keyboard Analog Drum MachineOne of the more complex "portable" keyboards. It looks very similar to the JVC KB-700.
All keys, functions and features work. It sounds great without effects. But, add some phaser, and you have instant "Dream Weaver". Perfect for your low-budget electronic, ambient, kosmische, krautrock, prog, trance, funk, yacht rock or disco project. The drum sounds sound great dry or through delay (or other effects).
Features:
Two separately-tunable voices that can be played at the same time - four solo/monophonic sounds (top note priority) and 12 polyphonic sounds
Lush, analog strings sound similar to Solina String Ensemble, ARP Omni, Roland RS-202/505/VP-330, Elka Rhapsody, Moog Opus, Korg Delta/Lambda//Sigma, etc.
Tight, metallic analog drums (in stereo)
Separate volume sliders for rhythm, bass, genie accompaniment, arpeggio, accompaniment strings, orchestral (polyphonic) presets, and solo (monophonic) presets
Split the keyboard between accompaniment chords/bass and mono and/or polyphonic voices at one of two preset locations or use the full keyboard range without accompaniment
Chord sequencer
Four bass patterns for each rhythm
"Bass Record" allows you to program when one of the four bass presets occurs
Three arpeggio patterns
Stereo chorus that you can adjust the depth of
61 full-sized keys
Built-in stereo speakers (this thing can get loud)
1/4" headphone output
Stereo RCA output jacks
1/4" microphone/line input with level pot
Volume (expression) pedal input
Use a pedal to glide a note up to the note you're playing by hitting a sustain pedal. Good when using the "Hawaiian Guitar" preset (pedal is not included but any Roland DP2-type will work)
120V or 240V (switchable)
Uses either 6 "D" batteries, a special AC adapter (not included) or standard, two-prong power cord (included)
None of the other models in the V series (eg. V-60, V-100, etc.) sounds like (or as good as) the V-120.
